There is "hope in winter" ... and always. This setting at Palmer Lake shows the colors of the sky reflecting off the ice, while the Palmer Lake Star is barely visible on Sundance Mountain, as it was not lit this early January. The piece is named after my daughter, Hope, who was skating with her siblings when I took the photo for this painting.
Palmer Lake is a tiny gem of a rustic mountain town nestled between Colorado Springs and Denver. The large star is lit for holidays and special commemorations. The town built the star in 1935 to “spur civic pride” during the Great Depression. It measures 457 feet wide and when lit is visible from miles away.
